TOYOTA'S 2ND ANNUAL "KIDS AGAINST CANCER NIGHT" CELEBRITY FIELD GETS CELEBRITY FLAGMAN: INDY 500 STARTER TO FLAG JULY 23 EVENT Irwindale, Calif. - - He's had somewhere north of 250,000 horsepower come under the control of his green flag. He's flagged IndyCar races on multiple continents, under all sorts of weather conditions. He's been doing this professionally for over 12 years now and is known as one of the smartest and most savvy flagman ever to climb up into a racetrack signal tower.

And, all of that experience is set to face the ultimate test at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday night, July 23 when Paul Blevin scampers up into the starter's stand at Toyota Speedway, pulls his personal set of signal flags out their well-traveled bag, unfurls them and takes control of one of the toughest fields that he's ever had to deal with: Almost a dozen well-known Hollywood Celebrities, all fully-outfitted as NASCAR drivers, driving 450-horsepower stock cars … all tuned up and ready to do battle in the inaugural Justice Brothers Celebrity Race on Toyota Speedway's tough, fast, takes-no-prisoners, half-mile oval.

Accustomed to dealing with huge egos and heavy horsepower, the 47 year-old Blevin is confident that he'll be able to control the all-star "cast" of actors Barry Bostwick, Kim Coates, William Fichtner, Christopher Knight, Frankie Muniz, Peter Shinkoda, and Skeet Ulrich, TV news anchor Jessica Holmes, TV weatherman Dallas Raines, and radio personality Riki Rachtman. "This is a great cause and a great group of celebrities," said Blevin, "I know that they've received very good training on these machines, but, this is some serious stuff on a very fast racetrack - - I want them all to have fun, but safely."

Gates open at 4PM and there's an on-track autograph session at 5:45PM … first race 7:00PM.

in What's HOT: News
Hollywood is well-represented in the upcoming Kids Against Cancer Celebrity Race Presented by JB Products that's set for Saturday night, July 23rd at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale.

Here, and in alphabetical order, are the names of the first nine CELEBRACERS who have already been revealed as soon to be suiting up in Nomex, pulling on the carbon fiber, and stepping in through the window of a 350 horsepower NASCAR stockcar to race and raise money for the Kids Against Cancer cause:

BARRY BOSTWICK: Tall (6'4"), agile, energetic, and ever-so-confident as both actor and singer, especially on the Broadway stage, this consummate pro possesses that certain style. Yet, for all his diverse talents (he's a Golden Globe winner and was nominated for the Tony Award three times, winning once), Bostwick is trapped in a "time warp". 35 years after the fact, he is still indelibly associated with the role of nerdy hero Brad Majors in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (1975). In 1977 Bostwick won Broadway's highest award, the Tony for his work in "The Robber Bridegroom" (1977). After winning a Golden Globe for his role as a military officer in the miniseries "War and Remembrance" (1988), the prematurely grey-haired actor played comedy foil to Michael J. Fox as Mayor Randall Winston for six seasons in "Spin City" (1996). He later enjoyed a recurring role as a dauntless attorney on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1999). A prostate cancer survivor, Bostwick might also be spotted hamming it up in family-oriented Disneyesque entertainment like "Parent Trap" and "101 Dalmatians."

Veteran actor KIM COATES has appeared in over 100 film and TV productions including big screen roles in "Blackhawk Down" and "Resident Evil-Afterlife" as well as appearing as a cast member in "Sons of Anarchy" and "Human Target". Coates will be doing double duty on the July 23rd event night at Irwindale as it is also night of the track's twelfth annual "Harley's on the Half-Mile" gathering of the two-wheel fraternity. Bikers from all over SoCal will be converging on the Speedway to raise funds for 'Kids Against Cancer' and Coates is sure to be a big fan favorite with them.

Whether he's playing a good guy, a bad guy, and just about anything in between, WILLIAM FICHTNER is the walking definition of the word versatile when it comes to description of a working actor. He's done stage, TV, features … Even voice-overs for a popular video game. Fichtner's body of work includes a recurring roles (Phil Yagoda) in "Entourage", "MDs" (Dr. Bruce Kellerman) and in "Prison Break" (Alex Mahone). He was also seen in "The Dark Knight", "Blades of Glory", and in the award-winning ensemble film "Crash" among others. He shares a credit "Blackhawk Down" with Kim Coates. Fichtner raced in the Toyota Pro-Celebrity road race at the Long Beach, but this will be his first time on an oval.

JESSICA HOLMES: An anchor for the "KTLA Morning News at 9", this vivacious young Los Angeles TV reporter has a reputation for versatility in front of the cameras that even extended into ariel assignments as an airborne traffic reporter onboard Channel 5's famous HD Telecopter. Beginning her television career in 1999, Holmes interned at Nickelodeon and began co-hosting "Slimetime Live." In 2002 the series was presented with an award for Outstanding Children's Program by the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association. Holmes joined KTLA in November 2005 as weathercaster for the station's "Prime News," after winning "The Audition", a reality show-style competition held on the Morning News show that saw hundreds of would-be weathercasters trying out in front of a million-viewer-strong audience where she landed what she calls the job of a lifetime. Her work with the all of the exceedingly personable personalities on the KTLA Morning News can always be described as fun-loving, bright, and engaging but, rest assured, her chops as a straight news reporter are as good as anyone on the show.

CHRISTOPHER KNIGHT: This actor/businessman began landing appearances in commercials for companies such as Toyota, Tide, and Cheerios and in television shows such as "Gunsmoke" (1955) and "Mannix" (1967). And then he found himself involved with one of the most successful television shows of all time. Partially because his dark looks matched that of Robert Reed who was cast as the show's father, Knight won the part of "Peter Brady", in "The Brady Bunch" (1969). Airing from September 1969 through August 1974, the show was highly popular with teenagers of that era. Knight has starred or otherwise participated in the abundance of Brady films, television movies, series, gatherings, discussions and retrospectives. In 2003 Knight hosted the series "TV Road Trip" for the Travel Channel. Knight is a spokesperson for the National Consumer League's "AD/HD Campaign to Inform the Nation."

Actor, musician, race car driver FRANKIE MUNIZ is best known to many fans as the eponymous star of the popular Fox series "Malcolm In the Middle". Besides his role in "Malcolm in the Middle", for which he received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, Muniz has also appeared in such films as "My Dog Skip," "Agent Cody Banks," "Big Fat Liar", "Stay Alive." and the not yet released superhero comedy "Pizza Man". Muniz is currently the drummer for Phoenix-based pop-rock group You Hang Up, their first full-length album is due out later in 2011. Muniz first drove in the 2004 Toyota Pro/Celebrity race at the Long Beach Grand Prix and, after winning that event in 2005, made the decision to put his acting career on hold to pursue a career as a professional racer. Certainly the most professional driving-wise of the celebrities drivers competing at Toyota Speedway on July 23, Muniz's racing experience is all road course related and the challenge of finding speed on the super-fast, all left-turns, banked oval half-mile still awaits him.

RIKI RACHTMAN has been one of the most recognizable figures on MTV & VH1 for over two decades. In the 90's he spent 5 years as the host of the highly rated HEADBANGERS BALL. He also starred on VH1's Charm School , Daisy of Love and hosted the famous Rock of Love Reunions. Rachtman is also a full-bore, flat-out NASCAR Nut. He spent several years on working on Speed Channel shows and for NASCAR.com, these days he hosts the nationally-syndicated radio show "Racing Rocks" currently heard on over 100 stations across the country. Just how much does this guy NASCAR love racing? He recently told us that he's got tattoos of the iconic racing numbers #3 and #43, but he didn't say where.

DALLAS RAINES: If you're from southern California and don't know who Dallas Raines is, you've really got to get out more! This peripatetic prognosticator of the probabilities of the weather is not only knowledgeable (he's a real honest-to-millibars, capital "M") Meteorologist. And his nifty nightly weathercasts on ABC7 in Los Angeles are required watching for millions who really want to know how to dress for work and/or the weekend. At it for over 25 years now, the tanned and terrific newsman is considered something of a regional treasure by fellow broadcasters and viewers alike. The winner of a trophy room full of on-air weather-related awards, Raines also volunteers with many community service agencies and has even taken time off to teach meteorology at Cal State University Northridge. Raines is also known for his stylish wardrobe, always wearing suits and ties that add interest to his persona. Perennially sporting a healthy tan, Raines is a human dynamo and one of the honestly nice guys in the biz.

Eighth, but far from last in this group of top celebrities is PETER SHINKODA. Now starring in TNT's smash hit series "Falling Skies" from executive producer Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks Television, Shinkoda plays as 'Dai,' a competent, yet quiet commando. Staying with the martial arts theme he'll also be seen in the upcoming Warner Bros. produced live-action web series "Mortal Kombat . Shinkoda's television credits include "The L Word" and "Kingdom Hospital", "Supernatural," SyFy's "Sanctuary," and James Cameron's "Dark Angel." On the big screen, Shinkoda has worked in features alongside the likes of: Jet Li, Jason Statham Will Smith, Bridget, Ben Affleck, Aaron Eckhart and Uma Thurman.

You know him as Detective Rex Winters on the gripping TV series "Law and Order: LA" where he just completed his fourteenth episode of the popular crime drama. And just ahead of that TV specialist SKEET ULRICH played the same crimestopper on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". His work on "CSI:NY" was under the character name of Hollis Eckhart in the 2009 season, and from 2006 to 2008 he starred in the gritty western series "Jerico" as Jake Green. He portrayed Jethro Wheeler in the TV Mini-Series "Into The West" and was a regular in the 2003 series "Miracles" where he played Paul Callan.

Each of the above-named celebrities will drive identically-prepared S-2 NASCAR Stock Cars built at the RACECAR FACTORY right in Irwindale only about a mile from the track. These are serious, full-size, fiberglass bodied, stock cars with a 350 horsepower Chevy V-8's under the hood, and a full roll cage protecting the driver. Each machine comes "standard" with a looks-easy-when-the-pros-do-it, plop-in-through-the-window opening style entry that gets one's full and undivided attention first time and reminds that this ride is a pro deal every time thereafter.

The night will also feature a very special silent auction of racing items that will range from autographed helmets, to invitations to join the stars at on the set as behind-the-scenes guests. All proceeds from this event will go toward the search for the cure for pediatric cancer.

The track's gates open to the pubic at 4PM and at 5:45 everyone is invited right down on the track to take part in the Speedway's special time to meet the drivers, see the cars up close, get a snapshot or two, the autograph of a favorite driver and just generally mix and mingle in the pre-race party that's called the King Taco On-Track Autograph Session. Fans are reminded to bring the kids and not to miss this no-extra-charge-unique-part of the special fan experience at the Speedway!

Toyota Speedway and Event Center opened on March 27, 1999 and has become one of the premier NASCAR Home Tracks in the country. Featuring virtually every aspect of stadium-style motorsports competition, the facility is clean, family-friendly and features a unique money-back guarantee that refunds any fan's ticket price if they are not 100% happy with the show. Located on the 605 freeway in Irwindale, California, the track is easy to get to from just about anywhere in southern California.

NATIONAL COLLECTOR CAR NIGHT!

in What's HOT: News
Owners of collector cars (along with their cars, of course!) are all invited to join the fun at Toyota Speedway on Saturday night, July 9. "We put out the sign," says GM/VP Bob DeFazio, "And it says: Collector Cars Welcome!".

The Speedway will join SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) in the weekend that's been designated to celebrate the lore and love affair that so many Americans have had with special automobiles. By the way, the term ŒCollector Cars‚ covers a very broad range of machinery, and we love them all.‰

DeFazio went on to indicate that anyone driving a collector car to the Speedway on this special Saturday will get free admission and a primo parking place in the Chalet Village area of the race track (between the grandstands and the pit area). "We've got room for 150 or so cars and we expect to have fully that many car collector fans to take us up on this deal. Our plan also includes at couple of paced victory laps on the track before the races. It should be a great night!"

By the way, besides being a great night for collectors and their cars, there‚s a full car of NASCAR short track action on tap as well. It's Super Saturday and the main event is 75 laps of wheel-to-wheel, three-wide from the Lucas Oil Slick Mist Late Models, they have got a tight 10-race championship going for 2011 and every race is their "Chase".

This race marks the half-way point in the championship with only 20 points separating the top five. Conroe, Texas' favorite son Kevin Thompson holds a 6-point lead coming in to Saturday race, his super-consistent string of top finishes (3rd, 2nd, 1st, and 4th) have see him with 188 points over third-gen racer Rod Johnson, Jr. of Canyon Country who has won 3 racer but has a bad finish in race three.

Jason Patison started slow in the 10-race series, but quickly picked up speed with two thirds and a close second last time out. The Corona-based driver has 174 points and is always a threat. Ryan Partridge and Race Liberante (Rancho Cucamonga and Quartz Hill respectively) are forth and fifth in points at 170 and 168.

The Speedway's points systems has always been a tough teacher. Eight points is all there is on any one night of racing between first and fifth. Consistently fast, accurate, and smart driving gets the points ∑ simple as that.

In addition the Echo Equipment Legends Cars, Jan's Towing Bandoleros, Ken Porter Auctions Open Comp, Langers Juice S-2's, and Vista Paints Super Stocks will all take their shot at the progressively-banked, high-polymer asphalt twin ovals at Toyota Speedway.

Classic Collector Cars and Heart-Pounding NASCAR short track action, where the racing is NEVER out of sight a great night at 1999 prices. Your racing dollar never went so far!

Collectors are suggested to get out to the track early to secure a spot in this "instant car show" (as on any Saturday, all cars must be on site and parked before the 4PM spectator gate opening).

The expectation is that the term "COLLECTOR CAR" will be open to broad interpretation on July 9 at Toyota Speedway in nearby Irwindale. But that‚s what makes coming to the Speedway on a regular basis such a blast every weekend. You never know what you'll see, but you know that it'll be cool!

All of the above adds up to another "More (NASCAR) Racing For Your Money" Saturday night at Toyota Speedway in nearby Irwindale, California where ticket and parking prices have not changed since opening day 1999, and where racing is just the beginning of all the fun!

The track's gates open to the pubic at 4PM and at 5:45 everyone is invited right down on the track to take part in the Speedway‚s special time to meet the drivers, see the cars up close, get a snapshot or two, the autograph of a favorite driver and just generally mix and mingle in the pre-race party that we call the King Taco On-Track Autograph Session. Fans are reminded to bring the kids and not to miss this no-extra-charge unique part of the special fan experience at the Speedway!

.... And then there's the lap of honor for all of our Collector Cars ... NOT TO BE MISSED!

Toyota Speedway and Event Center at Irwindale opened on March 27, 1999 and has become one of the premier NASCAR Home Tracks in the country. Featuring virtually every aspect of stadium-style motorsports competition, the facility is clean, family-friendly and features a unique money-back guarantee that refunds any fan's ticket price if they are not 100% happy with the show. The synergy of combined brands will provide performance enthusiasts an expanded range of Best in Class chassis and suspension solutions for Camaro, Mustang and other performance cars from 1964 to the present.

Heidts, an established leader in Street Rod and Muscle Car suspension components for over 25 years, is recognized for its engineering excellence and high quality manufacturing capabilities. The company was founded by Gary Heidt in 1985 and is currently owned by Wallace Leyshon, President of Heidts Automotive, and his business partners.

Kenny Brown, a 25 year veteran in the Mustang Performance aftermarket, is legendary for building some of the most technically advanced Ford Mustangs. After a medical hiatus, Kenny is getting back in the driver’s seat designing superior high performance suspension components for the latest Gen Mustangs and Camaros. Heidts will be the official licensed manufacturing and distribution partner for both his current and future line of late model performance products.

“To meet the growing demand for our products, we have been looking to find a suitable quality partner to manufacture and distribute the Kenny Brown Performance components,” Brown stated in a recent interview. “Heidts was by far the best fit for us. Additionally, the unique advantage of combining two superior suspension design groups provides unmatched potential for improving and developing products for the street rod, muscle car and performance car segments; so the strategic alliance made perfect sense.”

OHIO TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS BUILD '57 CHEVROLET BEL AIR FOR VIC EDELBROCK Custom Car Represents School's New Edelbrock Academy Program

Ohio Technical College (OTC) students have been diligently building a custom 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air that will be given to aftermarket industry veteran Vic Edelbrock. The custom Bel Air will be presented May 1, 2011 during Christi Edelbrock's "Rev'ved Up 4 Kids" charity car show benefiting The Center for Learning Unlimited at Vic's Garage in Torrance, Calif.

The one of a kind Bel Air, which was built to replicate a Hot Wheels 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Edelbrock die-cast race car, commemorates the launch of the Ohio Technical College Edelbrock Performance Academy. The Edelbrock Academy is a newly formed program between the two companies that gives students a solid foundation in the building and tuning of American muscle cars and performance vehicles. As part of the program, OTC students will learn about engine modifications, how to install high-performance products like top end kits, nitrous and supercharging systems, and how to conduct dyno tuning and testing, among other skills.

"The1957 Chevy Bel Air was a remarkable learning tool for our students and a great way to introduce the Edelbrock Academy and showcase the type of practical and applied training students will receive," said Justin Brenner, director of corporate development, OTC. "Students in our Classic Car and Restoration as well as the Racing and High Performance programs have spent the past several months completely restoring the '57 Chevy. Students dedicated their time transforming the car from a rusty shell of the past into a custom hot rod of the future. The Bel Air is infused with custom features and accessories including the new Edelbrock E Force Supercharger, making it a 600 horsepower '57 Chevy."

Many industry partners supported the project build by donating parts and services, including Edelbrock LLC, Danchuk, Eckler's, Fat Man Fabrications, Scoggin-Dickey and Summit Racing Equipment. A special thank you goes out to those students from OTC who made this custom build happen: Quinton Miller from Berlin, Ohio; Alex Jacin from North Randall, Ohio; and Chad O'Leary from Janesville, Wis.

PETERSEN AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM FOUNDATION RECEIVES GIFT OF $100,000,000 FROM MARGIE PETERSEN AND THE MARGIE & ROBERT E. PETERSEN FOUNDATION

Steven E. Young, Chairman of the Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation’s Board of Directors, announced today that the Museum Foundation has received a gift of approximately $100,000,000 from Margie Petersen and the Margie & Robert E. Petersen Foundation.

This donation is comprised of a substantial unrestricted financial gift, a matching challenge, the 300,000 square foot building that the Museum has occupied since it opened in 1994, and an important collection of cars assembled by the late Robert E. Petersen during his lifetime, all as part of the Museum’s gift.

This donation ensures that the Museum will continue to grow in importance as one of Los Angeles’ premier museums, and the largest and most acclaimed automobile museum in the nation.

“I am thrilled to make this gift which continues what Mr. Petersen and I began two decades ago, to build the most important automotive museum in the nation. My intent in doing this is to provide the Museum with the necessary resources to continue to enhance its collections, curatorial expertise and exhibitions so that generations to come will be able to forever know the history of the automobile and its role in the evolution of our nation’s transportation system,” said Margie Petersen.

“I am fulfilling a vision that Mr. Petersen and I shared and planned to do someday. I am so happy that this day has come and that I can launch the Museum into a new era of growth and expansion. While I expect the resources of the Museum to be available to the world, this gift is especially designed to the benefit of the Los Angeles community where we made our lives together,” stated Margie Petersen.

A program of special importance to Mrs. Petersen has been the Museum’s Free School Bus Program. Since 2005, the Museum has funded transportation that has enabled approximately 8,000 students per year from the Los Angeles Unified School District, grades K through 12, to visit the Museum. Teachers use the automobile to inspire student thinking about science, art, design, engineering, fuel supply, transportation and urban planning. Many teachers have stated that without this program the children would not have the opportunity to explore learning outside the classroom at all during the school year.

“The Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation Board is honored to acknowledge this gift as it launches a campaign to enlarge the Board and expand the reach of the Museum. We are committed to make the Petersen Automotive Museum the most important automobile venue in the world,” said Board Chairman Steven Young.

“We are ecstatic to receive this extraordinary gift from Mrs. Petersen. The generosity that she and Mr. Petersen have shown has been legendary and the entire Museum staff is overjoyed by this gift,” remarked Buddy Pepp, Executive Director of the Museum.

More than 150,000 visitors a year tour the Petersen Automotive Museum which is located on Museum Row on Los Angeles’s Miracle Mile. In addition to the automobile and motorcycle collections of Margie and Robert E. Petersen and the Petersen Foundation collection, the Museum also displays important cars from many other car collectors who donate or loan their vehicles to the Museum.

Robert E. Petersen founded Hollywood Publicity Associates in 1947. His love of cars let him win a contract to publicize a hot rod show at the Los Angeles Armory. He quickly recognized the market for a publication about hot rods which he parlayed into the legendary Hot Rod Magazine launched in 1948.

He grew his business into a publishing empire with more than 36 monthly magazines and over 50 annual publications and became a household name among car enthusiasts.

In 1963 he married Margie McNally, a model and actress from New York. Together they built a life of business, collections and philanthropy as one of Los Angles’ most prominent couples.

The Petersen car collection is renowned as one of the largest and most diverse collections in the United States. The Petersens are also known for important collections of wildlife and western art.

The couple’s considerable philanthropic activities in Los Angeles include The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, The Margie and Robert E. Petersen Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood, The Music Center, The Thalians, Cedars-Sinai Hospital, St. John’s Health Center and the John Wayne Cancer Institute among many others.
